Sa a to Ha Noi
Lounge service at Lao Cai, with toilet/ shower and food services was a great way to wait for the overnight train. Snacks and water provided on the train. Slept better than we thought we would. Was a great way to travel.
Clean and comfortable
Travelled from Lao Cai to Hanoi. Easy to find the waiting lounge, board and disembark. Helpful staff, good service throughout journey, not intrusive during sleeping time. Toilets kept clean throughout the trip. Clean cabin and comfortable bed, although if you're taller it's tight - I'm 190cm and head and feet touched the walls, such is life. To the people the comment on train noise and motion- it's a train. We thought it was a good experience and a convenient way to travel overnight. We've used several private cars in Vietnam and safe driving is extremely hard to find, no such issues using the train. Would recommend.

Nice surprise
Very pleasantly suprised. After all the horror stories about night trains, I have to say I was positively surprised. The noise was bearable, we could have a normal sleep. The cabins are not too big, but comfy enought for the night. Luggages can be placed under the beds, the bedding was clean. The Chapa Lounge was a nice extra before boarding - we could take a shower and have some dinner, which came in handy after a whole day trekking in Sapa.
Great service, but long waiting time
The service was great, beds okay (could be cleaner). Quite unhappy: We chose the early train (21:35) to be early in SaPa, but we waited 45 minutes for the transfer bus from Lao Cai station to Sapa because it waited for the second train arriving at 6 am. That means we could also have taken the later train without waiting. We there request a refund.

Ich kann diesen Zug nur empfehlen! Check in lief einwandfrei, unsere Kabine war wie auf den Bildern. Toilette war sauber, es gab immer Klopapier! In den Kabinen gab es sogar einen Kamm und Zahnbürsten! Die Betten waren bequem und ca 1.85m lang. Wir fanden es gar nicht so laut, bis auf ein ständiges Knallen was klang als ob jemand die Tür ständig zuschlägt! Wunderbare Erfahrung alles im allem!

We had a very smooth and uncomplicated travel to Sapa. Cabins and toilets were clean. Good communication with the Chapa team regarding boarding & pick-up.
Overnight in delux shared cabin
The train was excellent, cabin spotless . Comfortable bed with fresh linen. Lots of snacks, friendly staff. Comfortable ride managed to get some sleep
